The Self-Immolation of Thich Quang Duc - (2000)
On June 11th 1963, at a crowded
intersection in downtown Saigon,
Thich Quang Duc, a seventy-three year-old Viêtnamese Buddhist monk,
sat down in meditation and had two fellow monks douse him in petrol.
He then took a match and, lighting it, set himself on fire.
